A Letter from Tournament Headquarters

To All 2002 Tournament Participants,

I hope all of you survived the weekend of August 9th and 10th, and were able to enjoy meeting old friends, make some new ones, and take home with you some good memories from our competitions. Overall Greg and I were very happy with the way the weekend turned out. The golf courses were both in good shape, and I enjoyed the contrast between the two (Links style vs. Parkland). The Press Conference on Saturday was an experiment, and we are withholding judgment on continuing it until after the video is reviewed and assessed. Our initial thoughts are to continue it with some further enhancements.

As is always the case, I get so focused on trying to play good golf, as well as cover all of the logistical details of the tournament, that I forget to say a lot of things at the end of the day during the awards dinner. That was again the case this year, so I would like to take this opportunity, and use this forum, to get the word out to you.

As has always been our tradition, we would like to give a special thank you to our first year participants. This year we had six such players and they are - in order of highest finish J , Joe Calderazzo, Mark McGushin, Joe Vincent, Bill Brown, Ron Durkee and Patrick Clark. We very much hope you enjoyed the experience, and that you will join us again next year in southern California.

The past twelve months I believe have been hard for all of us. Our jobs are most likely more difficult, some of you have had recent career changes and are exploring new opportunities, and the stock market has no doubt chipped away at all of our assets. With all of this going on, I felt it would be a larger commitment than usual for you to attend and play in our tournaments this year, especially for our out of town guests. That being said, I feel that we owe all of you a larger than usual thank you for coming this year, and for helping to make the two events as successful as they were. You know, I do put a lot of effort into the tournament, and I am very conscious about many of the details that I think are necessary to separate our events from the many golf tournaments that are out there. It is very flattering when the various course staffs compliment us on that aspect of our tournament. However, and I have said this to most of you before, the thing I am MOST proud of about our tournament, is the "quality" of the participants we have. Quality is not typically a word used to describe individuals, but I think you all understand what I am talking about. We all enjoy the golf, and take the competitions seriously, but we do it with an underlying and more important sense of friendship, camaraderie and sportsmanship. We know how to have fun, but we also know how to do things like drink responsibly and utilize designated drivers. We show respect for the courses and their facilities, as well as their staffs. All in all when we leave, it is always my hope that the courses we play will admire who we are and what we are doing, and want us to return at the earliest opportunity. You therefore, are the reason our tournament is successful.

So this being the case, please accept my "larger than usual" sincere thank you, for taking time out of your busy schedules and making the financial commitment to play in our tournament this year. I am deeply grateful and will continue to be motivated by your presence to improve our events every year.

In that regard, I am already working on next year and am very excited by course possibilities and "ideas" in my head that I think will add even more enjoyment to your participation. Details will be released soon on the web-site as to the plans for 2003. Stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Charlie Clark
