Captain’s Chosen for 2002 Blue and Gold Cup
NEWSFLASH Los Angeles, Ca. July 8th, 2002
After very careful deliberations and much speculation, the executive committee of Clark Brothers Tournament Golf has named the Captain’s for the upcoming 2002 Blue and Gold competition. Taking charge of the defending champion Blue side will be tournament veteran and low handicapper Dr. Willie Ross. Dr. Ross is a very well respected tournament member (a rarity) and has played in nine Invitationals. With his low handicap of six, he is usually counted on to carry quite a load around the course on Saturday, and this weight has unfortunately keep him out of the winner’s circle. On Friday, he always tackles the best the Gold can throw out, and this has led to extremely close match play competitions against the likes of Frank Gleason and Bruce Flint. Dr. Ross will be counted on to carry on the success the Blue side has enjoyed in this competition. Dr. Ross resides in Oakland, California.

To represent the Gold side, with the urgent task to reclaim the trophy and restore the balance of power between the two groups, another very well respected tournament insider was chosen. Don Zaremba (also a Dr. I might add but with very questionable certification), a thirteen tournament veteran and CBI champion at Aptos in 2000 has accepted the challenge and will lead the Gold side into battle. Dr. Z. is a tenacious competitor, who recently underwent knee surgery for the sole reason to better prepare himself for the two 2002 tournaments. Don is admired by his fellow teammates for his relentless work ethic, dry sense of humor and hollow leg, one that he has very capably shown at numerous past events. Don resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
